The Road of Life

A small group of tourists will visit the newest Russian aviation museum and climb into the cockpit of the famous defender of Leningrad — the hardworking Li-2.

What’s the buzz?

A small group of tourists will visit the newest Russian aviation museum and climb into the cockpit of the famous defender of Leningrad — the hardworking Li-2. It’s not just any old trip — you will dig into the history of aviation. It is an exclusive tour developed especially for true connoisseurs of beauty. You won’t find tours like that anywhere, it’s purely our idea.

Moreover, you will get inside the cockpit of the Li-2 in the Road of Life Museum on Lake Ladoga. Most visitors only get to see the aircraft from the outside, but our tourists will have a chance to get inside it and look into the cockpit. The highly qualified personnel of the museum will tell us about the history of this airplane, its exploits during the siege, and a DIY method of gun installation on aircraft.

But before that, we will visit the high-end Museum House of Aviators in Vsevolzhsk. We will find out how famous pilots ended up in a cheese factory. It’s an interactive museum where you can press lots of buttons.

What will we do?

Meeting & transfer to Vsevolozhsk

A comfortable coach will meet us by the Udelnaya subway station. Our passionate and omniscient guide will take us to one of the newest Russian aviation museums — the Museum House of Aviators in Vsevolozhsk — and tell you how the aviation industry lived and struggled during the siege.

10:00 - 11-00

Museum House of Aviators

We will visit the high-tech interactive Museum House of Aviators which opened just recently in the building which served as the base for the pilots of two guards fighter aviation regiments. This museum is really unique for our area — in addition to its rich collection that can interest people with any level of knowledge on aviation, it features the latest technologies: virtual guides, interactive quests, 3D models of weapons and equipment, multimedia screens which give a sense of the events of the past. The museum even offers a re-enactment of air combats — visitors can sit at the controls and get a fighter pilot experience. Well, and we will be accompanied by a guide, of course.

11:00–13:00

Lunch on Lake Ladoga

There’s no compromise when it comes to lunch. Ours will overlook the Osinovetsky Lighthouse.

13:00–14:00

The most important part — Li-2 cockpit

After that, the coach will take us to the main destination of our adventure — the Road of Life Museum on Lake Ladoga where we will climb into the famous Li-2. Li-2 is a great milestone in the history of Russian aviation. It is a younger brother of the famous American Douglas DC-3. This busy bee was extensively used in the period from 1941 to 1953 and made a huge contribution to the history of WWII and saved thousands of lives in Leningrad.

13:00–14:00

Dmitri Yurievich Shashkov, a guide of the Museum of Civil Aviation and a person who loves aviation and knows all about it, will look after us throughout the programme.
